Hi people,
Finally decided where were going in October,
Horrocks beach caravan park 80k's north of
Geraldton.
Though we can't find a dog sitter and don't like kennels, niether does the dog so we're stuck with him.
We have never been up around that area before and would love to see some of
Kalbarri and other parts within reach of a day trip.
Only problem is we don't know where we can take the dog and if possible who to contact to get this information.
Also are there any
1080 baits around that area.
Cheers

The only place we have found we cant take our dog up there is the
Kalbarri National Park. We take him everywhere else - Horrocks,
Port Gregory, Kalb etc.
There is a kennel in
Kalbarri we leave our dog at 'for a couple of hours' when we go into the national park. its on the left between
Kalbarri and the Parks.
Have fun.

Swampy,
Is it very expensive mate, and can you just drop and go or do you have to book him in.
cheers

We do just drop him and go - it only takes a few minutes.
i cant remember the name of the kennel. The people at Murchison Caravan Park told us about it.
We were last there May 2005.
cheers.

Yeah ok, you're right we love him and will probably enjoy his company.
Just sometimes he is a royal pain in the ass.

Hi rest needed,
I used to work for the Ag Dept/APB in that area, here's a bit of info to help.
Fishing;
Bowes River, Horrocks jetty at night,
Port Gregory jetty and beach, most tracks through the dunes between Horrocks and Pt
Gregory lead to fishing spots(drop tyre pressure). Mostly Tailer,
mulloway,herring and whiting.
Sightseeing Horrocks-Pt Greg-
Kalbarri;
Aboriginal
rock painting on track to Bowes R, Coastal gorges south of
Kalbarri, River Gorges and lookouts. All Gorges are in the Nat Park.
More upto date info from
Kalbarri Visitor centre.
Dogs are OK in
Kalbarri townsite,Horrocks C/van Park and Pt
Gregory C/van Pk may require dogs to be on leash at all times.
Definitely NO dogs in Nat Park at any time.
1080 baiting is carried out as required to control feral animals both in Park and on adjacent farmlands.
The suggestion to kennel the dog(s) for a day is
well worth considering, much better than getting caught with dog by Park staff.
Great choice for a laid back holiday break, enjoy it.
